Macspeare, a piece inspired by Shakespears’s Macbeth, will be on display April 4 – May 15, 2012 at the St. Cloud library.
About the piece: The corrupting power of unchecked ambition and greed that overpowers morality in Macbeth is equivalent to the corporate greed and materialism of the wealthy and colonial “past” that plagues the African continent. The rich get richer by exploiting women and children and the violence and killings that Africans face is parallel to the violence inflicted throughout Macbeth. Just as Malcolm was victorious, Africans will be seen as human beings, equals, of value.
