I won an International silver medal at a New York gallery this summer and as a result was invited to exhibit at Marina Tsvetaeva Museum and Cultural Center in Moscow, Russia in December. We are the first Americans allowed to exhibit there. To commemorate this history, I am having my first solo art exhibit, “Open Doors,” the month of December at Great River Regional Library- St. Cloud, with an opening ceremony December 6.
As I researched Marina certain words stuck out, and I envisioned paintings based on these themes. Famine and poverty was a central theme throughout Marina’s life. As an upcycle artist, I had cupboard doors which I saw as representative of what Marina didn’t have. There were ten doors, ten words and Marina had ten collections of lyrical poetry~ “Open Doors.”
